Allingham Awaits Woodpecker...

Current Hankook MSA Welsh National Championship leaders Alex Allingham and Mark Glennerster are keenly awaiting the next round of both the MSA Welsh National Rally Championship and the MSA Gravel Championship after the recent postponement of the Swansea Bay Rally due to a rare tree disease meaning the event had to be cancelled. The Pair, also leading the MSA Gravel Championship Production Cup, are looking forward to the event, one of their most favourite events. Allingham said ' we look forward to the Woodpecker rally each year, and this year is no different, we are looking for good consistent finishes on the final two rounds of the Hankook championship, we haven't done a rally since the Severn Valley on 5th June so we're getting withdrawal symptoms ! ' .Alex and Mark will use their Hankook tyres shod Subaru Impreza to compete on the event which take place around Ludlow and the Welsh Marches on the 4th September. The Stalybridge driver will be looking to consolidate his lead in the Championship, however competition will be tough from fellow Ludlow Castle Motor Club members Shaun Gardner and Roger Chilman Jnr, Alex and Mark know they have their work cut out. Allingham commented ' The stages on the rally include the classic stages of Radnor and Haye Park, and the organisation of the event is always second to none"

National Rally Championship front runners Alex Allingham and co-driver Mark Glennerster secured an excellent sixth overall and first Group N on the Severn Valley National Rally.

Alex from Stalybridge started the rally from the Royal Welsh Showground on a sunny Saturday morning. The warm and dry weather was to play a major part in the days event.Team Allingham headed into the forest stages expecting a tough day ahead for the Hankook Tyres shod Subaru Impreza. Entering the first forest stage gave all the crews a rude awakening with hanging dust in the trees. The 12 miles of Crychan where completed amongst walls of hanging dust, as Alex approached fast corners and long straights he had to put all his faith into the pace notes of Mark and commit to fast bends at over 70 mph with zero visibility. After the second stage the pair were in seventh overall, with the rugged and dry surface causing tyre wear for all the crews. After the first service the crews headed for the 15 miles of classic RAC Rally stage in Radnor Forest. Alex and Mark relished the challenge of this classic stage and duly set the fastest Group N time and moved them in to sixth overall, a position they would hold onto all day having set top seven times from start to finish beating many more powerful WRC machines. At the finish the pair were delighted with sixth overall and first in Group N.

A maximum points haul in the MSA Gravel championship for Group N and maximum points in the MSA Hankook Welsh National Rally championship.Alex commented: "It's been a hard day at the office; it was so hot we drank about three litres of water each today."I would like to thank Hankook for providing the tyres to cope with the extremely challenging conditions." Alex would also like to thank: "Richard Williams and Richard Allingham his service team and his valued sponsors, mccrash.co.uk, Grade A Subaru, Richard Allingham Cars, Adgespeed, Workwear4you, Brokenpencil.co.uk, and Racebits.co.uk."

Allingham Bags the Points

Stalybridge Rally Driver Alex Allingham, alongside co-driver Mark Glennerster from Swindon bagged 3rd Hankook Welsh National Championship points in this weekends SJR Plains Rally in Welshpool. The Pairing struggled with their pace on the first set of stages after Alex's recent roll on the Pirelli, However they still managed to set top 10 stage times throughout the day, ending their day 4th in GpN and a fantastic 8th Overall despite cracking a brake disc on the second last stage of the rally.  Alex commented "We were off the pace a little this morning, my confidence still dented from the Pirelli, but we had a real push on Hafren where the Hankook tyres and Mark's pacenote's were just fantastic, that stage was the highlight of my day".
Alex was the 3rd placed Hankook driver and bagged a decent haul of points for his Welsh National Championship campaign.
Alex and Mark's next event will be on the 5th June in Bulith Wells, where they will contest the Severn Valley Rally.

Alex would like to thank his current sponsors, Mccrash.co.uk, Workwear4you, Racebits.co.ukBrokenpencil.co.uk and Richard Allingham Cars for their support.
